Nowdays school teachers in Malaysia have access to ICT tools in their teaching and learning process at schools. However, these tools are used mostly for record keeping and word processing purposes. The Ministry of Education (MOE) in Malaysia has embarked on many different projects on the use of ICT in the schools for example creating smart school in order to develop children for the Information Age.
There are 2 issues in integrating ICT in teaching and learning that I would like two elaborate. First and foremost is about most of our teachers in the schools lacks of ICT skills and management or maybe does not have enough ICT teacher. Since accessibility and availability of ICT is no longer a problem, why are teachers not using the ICT in their classrooms ? . I feel that the time has come for a more in-depth study on the use of computers for teaching and learning among primary and secondary school teachers in Malaysia. So that the students can master all of the subject that they have learned in their school because most of them are very interested in ICT applications. It should be mentioned that problems with technology usage by teachers are not limited to developing countries like Malaysia. The teachers should take proactive step having self-learning while always involve program under government.
Next the second issue is improper preparation of sufficient and up-to-date tested ICT infrastructure and equipment to the school especially of interior area of school.
